Bowcock to replace Cooper as CFO in November

Philip Bowcock has been unveiled as the new chief financial officer of UK bookmaker William Hill.

Bowcock, who will join William Hill from the Cineworld Group cinema chain, will start the role on November 1.

He will replace Neil Cooper, who in June informed the William Hill board of his intention to leave the company and join property developer Barrett Developments. Cooper will leave the company on November 6.

“This is an exciting time to be joining William Hill with its strong digital and international strategies,” Bowcock said.

Cineworld Group announced in June that Bowcock was leaving the business to pursue other interests after three-and-a-half years in the role.

The cinema chain’s chairman Tony Bloom said that the departing executive had “played an important part in the development of Cineworld to become one of Europe's leading cinema groups, not least by playing a significant role in the combination with Cinema City and the subsequent integration of the two businesses”.

Bowcock worked for a string of companies before joining Cineworld Group, including Luminar Group Holdings, Tesco, Hilton Group and Barrett Developments.

William Hill CEO James Henderson added: “We are delighted to welcome Philip, whose extensive experience will be valuable as we continue to diversify and grow the business.

“Philip has played a lead role in strategic and financial changes at his previous companies and will bring both a strong strategic insight and rigorous financial acumen.”
