Following a review of its sportsbook operations, online casino and sports betting operator Webis Holdings is to close its fixed-odds betting and game operation in order to focus efforts on its WatchandWager deposit wagering subsidiary. The company concluded that continuing to support the division was “no longer a viable strategy” and cited the impact of “ongoing development of jurisdictional protectionism”. Caesars Growth Partners also enjoyed a successful 2014, with the US operator’s Caesars Interactive Entertainment business unit posting revenue of $586.6m, up 85.3 per cent on the previous year, while adjusted EBITDA jumped 81.5 per cent year-on-year to $117m. In addition, the operator’s Casino Properties and Developments division experienced impressive growth, with revenue up 23 per cent to just under $1.3bn...

Meanwhile, Apple has reportedly pulled a number of online gambling mobile applications from its App Store in Sweden. Industry giants such as William Hill and Unibet have had their apps removed from the App Store due to internal concerns of promoting products from operators that are not licensed in the country...

And finally, US land-based and online operator Affinity Gaming has named Walter Bogumil as its new senior vice-president, chief financial officer and treasurer. Bogumil joins from Penn National Gaming and will replace Donna Lehmann.
