Working with Finnplay to provide a MuchBetter payments service

MuchBetter is now available to all Finnplay's B2B and B2C brands

MuchBetter Co-Founder Jens Bader said that learning to work with “someone in the middle” was the key challenge when connecting to a platform for the first time, rather than a single operator.

Last month, the iGaming payments company signed a deal with Finnplay, a turnkey solution provider, to deliver an alternative to traditional payments wallets.

Following discussions which started at the Berlin-based EiG in October 2017, the service is now live, with the first transactions made in Q1 2018.

Bader told TotallyGaming.com: “We’ve got very good at working directly with operators, but this is the first time that MuchBetter will be made available in this kind of ecosystem.”

“It’s an exciting challenge for us, but also a much-needed proof point, to show that we can play nicely with others and fit it to whatever payment environment we need to.

“Finnplay is a company with an iGaming pedigree and a great reputation in the industry, so we couldn’t have asked for a better partner in this journey really.”

Speaking at ICE London 2018, Bader added this new deal was a validation of the B2B service model, and reflective of the wider interest in MuchBetter’s “gaming-specific commercial model”.

He commented: “We just started taking business in, so just about four months ago we started integrating the first gaming companies. Now, we’re live with about a dozen operators, including reputable names such as The Gaming Innovation Group (GIG) or Royal Panda, and they’re very happy with the product.

“It’s very economical in the sense that the fees we charge are a lot lower than others because we designed a different commercial model. We also indemnify the operator, eliminating financial risk and exposure that usually sits with the operator. The operator knows that when they get the thumbs up through the API, the money stays with them and there’s no risk.

“For their customers, we’ve combined existing technologies to make a very smart package. We’ve basically built a system where you keep the balance between usability and security, because everything we do is so dynamic – it’s session based with session tokens, it’s two factor authenticated, we’re using biometric authentication, we’re using tokenisation.”

Totally Gaming says: Working with a company such as Finnplay means that MuchBetter needs to replicate its service on a much wider level. The biggest challenges will be in reporting, gaining access to merchant accounts, and with reconciliation whereby you can see that a transaction was for that brand, under that licence, with that currency, and for that player. All this without enabling the individual operators to see each other’s accounts, because they’re likely to be competitors.
