European operator bwin has partnered with Tokabot to launch WettBuddy, the perfect online “sidekick” for its sports betting customers this summer.

WettBuddy is a chatbot service that provides unique interactive real-time and context sensitive content, including bet-informing match stats and trivia.

One of the stats presented for users in Germany, picked alongside Austria for the product’s trial phase, is that ‘Germany has not lost an official match since Euro 2016 (14 victories and 1 draw)’.

Meanwhile, trivia questions from this test period included ‘Who was West Germany’s top scorer at the 1990 World Cup’ and ‘Which German was named best goalkeeper at the 2002 tournament?'

Initially operating via Facebook Messenger, the WettBuddy application will be available to consumers via a simple on-boarding sign-up process.

Once signed-up, the virtual betting buddy will be on hand to start conversations around favourite teams and upcoming matches, respond to questions posed by the user, and serve up relevant offers tailored to each individual customer on bwin, part of the GVC stable of brands.

GVC Head of DACH Stephan Heilmann told TotallyGaming.com: “WettBuddy is all about providing a richer and more engaging experience for our customers when they bet with us. We think, whatever the match, WettBuddy will be the bettor’s perfect sidekick this summer.”

Totally Gaming says: This virtual betting buddy is the product of a new partnership between bwin and tech start-up Tokabot, who have pushed hard to bring its chatbot technology to the sports betting market in time for next month’s World Cup. WettBuddy has been described as the perfect online companion for sports bettors, and represents a brand-new approach to customer engagement for customers on bwin throughout Russia 2018 and beyond.
