Videoslots believes its Battle of the Slots product engages customers socially

Online slots can learn from the social aspects of bingo in terms of player engagement, according to Alexander Stevendahl, chief executive officer at developer Videoslots.com.

Stevendahl’s firm has been working of developing a social slots product for real money for some time and has had success in this arena with its Battle of the Slots concept tapping into a pooled jackpot.

He told TotallyGaming.com: “Adding a social element to gaming has proved a great way of increasing player engagement, as bingo has demonstrated over the years. Battle of Slots is the first instance of this social, multiplayer approach being applied to online casino.

“We’ve taken many cues from the world of social gaming, where leaderboards, rewards and other techniques have proven immensely successful, and applied them to the world of real money online casino. The result has been a significant uptick in the lifetime value of players.”

One of the newest developments to the Battle of the Slots format is the introduction of a Joker feature which rewards the biggest fans for signing up early to a competition.

Stevendahl explained: “Battle of Slots is an industry-first gamification concept that has revolutionised online casino, winning numerous awards since its launch in October 2015. It has been a core component of our offering since it launched, but we are always looking for ways to improve it, and that is why we developed the Joker feature.

“We had noticed that some players were waiting for Battles to begin before registering. The Joker offers those who pre-register for Battles the chance to become the Joker, doubling their prize money should they win. By encouraging earlier registrations, we can also give players the chance to compete for bigger prize pots.”

He added that the company had several new concepts in development for the format. “Without giving too much away, there will be new developments for Battle of Slots, one of which has been inspired by our friends in the poker industry. We are determined to continue to lead the way in the gamification of online casino, and we have teams working hard on new features.
