Swedish players will be more secure with new authentication system

Unibet’s head of player safety Daniel Gambin says that the group’s desire to ‘supply a safe and secure environment for our customers’ was behind the initiative to the introduce electronic authentication system BankID on its Unibet and MariaCasino sites for the Swedish market.

Using BankID on Unibet Group’s leading brands in Sweden is intended to create a faster and more efficient authentication & verification process for the customers, as well as enhanced efforts to maintain a safe and secure site.

Gambin told TotallyGaming.com: “Unibet Group is committed to supplying a safe and secure environment for our customers. One part of this is ensuring that our customers can access their accounts using secure methods, which is why we are very pleased to introduce BankID in Sweden. BankID is the most widely used e-id system in Sweden, managed by the major banks. With this system in place our customers will experience a seamless and familiar login process, using the highest security measures the market has to offer.”

Verifying and validating user identities is a complex and time consuming process. BankID will provide a faster, more secure way of accessing the site, thereby maximising player safety. At the same time, it will offer customers a user-friendly solution that speeds up the verification process and allows a safe log-in experience.

Gambin added: “Whilst currently available as a log in option, this functionality gives us the opportunity to also use it across various customer journeys to further improve the security and user experience. As one of Sweden’s largest gambling operators with a big focus on its Player Safety, Unibet Group continues to cement its position as the leader within our industry.”

He commented that the inclusion of BankID, demonstrate’s Unibet’s commitment to innovative solutions by being the first operator in the gambling space to make use of this technology. “As well as improving the customer experience, it adds a great deal of security to the account and together with other electronic verification solutions serves to improve the safety and security of our Swedish customer base.”

Totally Gaming says: While customer safety is not quite the differentiator for the gambling market at the moment, with many players still making choices on the best odds or promotions, security could well become a key factor when choosing a brand in the future.
