The most exciting thing in the world of sports this week has been the closing of the football transfer window, especially in England where a new TV deal has given all the clubs untold riches.

Coral's Nick Goff channels Eminem after the news that Premier League Champions Leicester City have signed Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani for £29m.

He tweeted: "All the other Slimani's are just imitating."

Meanwhile Paddy Power was surprised that Liverpool managed to dislodge misfiring Italian striker Mario Ballotelli.

The bookmaker tweeted: “Liverpool getting rid of Ballotelli is a bit like sneaking your rubbish into somebody else's bin.”

Our very own Ewa Bakun has been trawling through the entries forf this year's EIG LaunchPad competition for start-ups and she's noticed a very definite trend.

She tweeted: A lot of lottery products amongst #startups submitted for #eig16 launchpad

Those innovative lottery products might be needed in California where the door still seems shut on otherwise popular gaming products. Analyst Chris Grove anticipates disappointment on the west coast of the US.

He tweeted: Barring something quite incredible that has been kept improbably secret, 2016 will close without poker or DFS bills passing in California.

On a related note, fellow analyst Adam Krejcik was looking at the outlook for DFS giants Draft Kings and FanDuel, in a twitter discussion that later estimated Draft Kings had raised $850m in its short tenure.

Krejcik tweeted: DFS observations 1)we est DK valuation was likely ~$1bn 2)FD will likely announce similar rd soon 3) FD/DK merger will NOT happen (this yr)

A bad news week for Apple in Europe didn;t get much better in the household of Strategy9's Tom Delibassis, who was massively underwhelmed by the latest iOS update.

He tweeted: Each family #iPhone needing battery chargers like IV drips since the latest updates. Thanks @Apple Maybe time to go to @samsung

Perhaps the person to have most reason to cheer this week though was Income Access' Nicky Senyard after her company was picked up by the PaySafe Group. She had a simple message to share.

She tweeted: "What an exciting time for @IncomeAccess as we join @PaysafeGroup today! http://bit.ly/2cgFaea "
