With news of Trump and the document handed to the FBI by John McCain causing a stir this week, Ladbrokes cut their odds to evens that Donald J won’t last his first term in the White House. His inauguration is January 20th.

Alun tweeted: “Trump now evens to not last his first term on Ladbrokes. Evens. A 50% chance. This is truly unpresidented territory.”

There’s been much talk about how to get younger generations invested in betting on the horses in recent times. Following the Racing Post’s Tom Kerr’s severe criticism of the Jockey Club’s proposal to close Kemptown, which left many horse racing fans outraged, Bernard Marantelli gave his view. The Colossus Bets CEO is a big believer that major changes need to be made if it’s to survive.

He tweeted: “The status quo is outright failing with your dying old men... enjoy the ride to the bottom. change is needed end of discussion”

This week has been busy in the world of esports sponsorships and investments, and the betting world got involved too. Esports betting specialists Unikrn invested in Berlin based CS:GO team BIG. CEO Rahul Sood teased the announcement on Twitter on Thursday before it went live in the Unikrn blog on Friday afternoon.

He tweeted: “Unikrn going BIG with Berlin International Gaming - a world class CS:GO team based in Berlin, Germany.”

Never one to shy away from a ridiculous bet Irish jokers and bookmakers Paddy Power have opened a market on when an iceberg (known as Larsen A) will break free from the ice shelf in Antarctica. USA Today reported on it and their writer John Bacon shared it on Twitter. It’s 6/1 that it’ll happen this month just FYI.

He tweeted: “That's cold: Bookmaker taking bets on when iceberg bigger than Rhode Island will break off Antarctica ice shelf.”

The more politics is in the news and on our social media feeds the more it seems people want to bet on it. Following Donald Trump’s unlikeliest of victories, and the fact he was originally at 150/1 in places, Michelle Obama’s odds for POTUS 2020 have fallen from 66/1 to 14/1 at William Hill.

Graham Sharpe tweeted: “Early gamble on Michelle Obama to win 2020 US Presidential Election sees her odds shorten from opening 66/1 to current 14/1. #Michelle2020”

It’s Oscars betting season where everyone watches all the shortlisted films and gets opinionated. This year though there’s only one strong favourite as it stands in the form of Golden Globes hero and musical love story La La Land. BBC Journalist Peter Bowles recounts how he hasn’t seen such a favourite in some time.

He tweeted: “Rarely seen such an odds on favorite for the #Oscars. Feels about right time for some light relief.”
