Latest move by the firm secured French site ParisSportifs

Catena Media is thanking its Russian World Cup bonus, following the acquisition of French sports betting site ParisSportifs.

Completing the purchase, with all affiliate assets for an upfront payment of €8.2m, Catena continues its spate of recent strategic enhancements.

Addressing how crucial this latest move is, especially with a World Cup very quickly approaching, Henrik Persson Ekdahl, acting CEO of Catena Media, told TotallyGaming.com: “My goal is to make Catena Media the largest lead generator in the world.

“France is a market we have studied for a long time and one of the first regulated European nations. Now we tap into a new market for us, regulated and focused on sports.

“The World Cup is a big event and will be great for the French markets as well, but this is a long play for us and was not done for a quick win during the World Cup, that was just a bonus.”

Of the initial payment price, Catena Media is to pay a sum of €6.2m in cash, with the remaining €2m set to be settled in newly issued shares.

It was also detailed that there is an earn-out potential of €5.7m, based on revenue performance over a 12-month period, which would see a total earn-out payment of €3.2m in a “reasonably expected scenario”.

This deal for Catena Media followed further movements in the financial services market, which the firm debuted in in November of last year.

Following the €3.6m purchase of all affiliate assets in German financial lead generator BrokerDeal.de, Ekdahl added: “The financial vertical was a natural step for us and we intend to be the global leader of high value leads in this vertical as well.”

Totally Gaming says: Catena Media is embarking on a significant period, with a number of key strategic acquisitions made in different markets and across a variety of verticals. Through this latest purchase of ParisSportifs, Catena ensures they are well placed within the French market, especially with that World Cup almost upon us.
