Builds on relationship with the Asian Football Confederation

The Philippines Football League (PFL) has agreed a deal with Sportradar, that will see the sports betting solutions provider become the associations exclusive global audio-visual, data distribution and integrity services partner.

Building upon its current deal in the region with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the PFL is to also utilise its fully customizable and scalable OTT platform.

Biplav Gautam, Director of Business Development in Asia for Sportradar, told “One of the key motivations of this partnership is Sportradar’s OTT solutions. We have observed a increasing shift in media consumption, especially in sports-related content, onto mobile platforms such as smart phones, tablets and laptops.

“The OTT solution is an additional revenue stream that enables the PFL to attract sponsors and brand advertisers who wish to engage with the football fans in the Philippines and globally.

“It also enables them to monetize the content, if they wish to, such as pay-per-view for live-telecast matches and competitions. Coupled with our Sports Media solutions, which [provide] statistics on the teams, players and matchups, fans in the Philippines and around the world can fully immerse themselves in the sport, while on-the-go.”

“Through partnerships with FIFA and [the] AFC, Sportradar has been monitoring football in the Philippines for a number of years. The PFL partnership augments the existing work with Education & Prevention programs such as Integrity workshops and an anti-match-fixing campaign,” added Gautam.

Sportradar is to provide a series educational and prevention workshops as part of the deal, to be undertaken by clubs and players, and with a priority focus on the dangers and consequences of match-fixing.

In addition, Sportradar Integrity Services will monitor, identify and analyse suspicious activities relating to the league through its fraud detection system.

Totally Gaming says: With the PFL all set to commence its second season at the start of March, it is really setting out its stall early with regards to the integrity of its competition. The agreement aims to educate stakeholders on such important issues, whilst also promoting and raising the PFL’s profile worldwide through the OTT platform.
