Market boosted by strong sports betting and casino performance

Spanish gaming regulator La Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has reported a 29.9% increase in total market gross gaming revenue for the third quarter of 2018.

Total revenue grew to €181.8m, driven by a strong performance from the sports betting vertical. Total sports revenue climbed 27.4% to €97.4m, with amounts wagered growing to €1.6bn.

Casino also enjoyed a strong quarter, with revenue rising 39.2% to €60.8m, of which €34.2m was generated through online slots. Poker, aided by liquidity pooling with French and Portuguese players, saw revenue rise 35.1% to €19.8m.
