The absence of a major sporting tournament didn’t stop bet-at-home flourishing in 2017

Ahead of this year’s much anticipated World Cup, European online betting operator bet-at-home has announced that the growth in online betting markets have allowed it to record continued growth in its yearly results for 2017.

Consistent player activity on its channels lead to the German based operator detailing record full-year gross revenues of €145 million, an increase of 5% from when it reported €138 million for 2016.

Franz Ömer, the group’s CEO, told online sports betting and gambling market has been booming for years. We are continually expanding our product portfolio and invest millions to promote brand awareness every year. This is how we have constantly succeeded in growing with the market.

"It is particularly satisfying to note that despite the absence of a major sporting event, we were not only able to maintain our gross betting and gaming revenue but even increased it.”

At the culmination of its yearly accounts, the operator announced its ‘highest ever EBITDA performance’ of €35 million (FY 2016: €33 million).

A further factor that could have hampered bet-at-home’s further progression throughout the year is that the group was forced to overcome various obstacles within the its expansion into the Polish market.

Poland introduced a law into the region last April, which made conditions incredibly challenging for overseas operators to earn money within the region. Therefore record breaking results will be even more gratifying for bet-at-home.

Totally Gaming says: Given that the sports betting site recorded immense growth in 2017, in the absence of a major sporting tournament, it’s highly likely that in 2018, the group can continue growing, especially with the presence of the 2018 World Cup which reigning champions Germany are expected to play a pivotal role.
