The Americas remains a prime target for future growth for Sportech following the launch of a new horse racing betting website in Peru, Andrew Gaughan, president of racing and digital at the pools and sports wagering operator, has told TotallyGaming.com

Launched in partnership with the Jockey Club del Perú, the new Spanish-language website will run on Sportech’s G4 digital wagering technology and offer local racing products as well as simulcast races from the US.

The venture, overseen by the company's Sportech Racing and Digital division, will also include the new Sportech Tablet for digital wagering on-track and new fixed odds Virtual Racing Service. The latter of these offers has recently been integrated with Sportech’s Quantum System software in cooperation with Kiron Interactive.

“A few years ago, the Jockey Club del Perú became our first customer outside of North America to receive wagering services from our Quantum Data Centre (QDC) in New Jersey,” Gaughan told TotallyGaming.com

“While this is the standard service delivery model for our customers in North America, it was not previously used for our customers elsewhere. The Jockey Club del Peru used our Quantum System software, and this model of tote services, to help streamline their operations while also giving their punters access to our global co-mingling pools.

“Now, with the Quantum System software, and with the services from the QDC, the Jockey Club del Perú has access to the newest products and services we offer. With this announcement, they are tacking toward a digital betting experience, with the fully featured wagering website that will be powered by Sportech’s G4 platform, and the Sportech Tablet for digital self-service wagering.”

Considering the wider Latin American market, Gaughan said that Sportech has plans to boost its presence in the continent by further expanding the distribution of its Quantum System software.

“Sportech has a strong presence throughout South America, Latin America and the Caribbean, with customers in 11 distinct markets in that region,” he said. “Our customers there are eager to offer the latest in wagering technologies, including digital platforms, self-service devices and new betting options.

“Our plan for the South American market is to continue to offer our customers the tools they need to satisfy the punters they have, and to grow the customer base.

“We expect to further expand distribution of our Quantum System software, which is fast becoming a global standard for pari-mutuel wagering with a customer base spanning North America, Europe, and Latin America.”
