In time for this summer’s World Cup, Marathonbet has relaunched its Russian-licensed site after suspending site operations earlier this year.

The group’s Russian site was first launched last July, however as reported by Betting Business, it was taken down in February as it needed to renew its license after relocating the site “processing center of interactive rates”.

Now the group will offer a full sportsbook service to Russian punters that are registered and allowed to place wagers within the region.

When asked about the importance of the site relaunching ahead of the World Cup, Anton Eshtokin, Country Manager Russia for Marathonbet, told “Resumption of accepting bets on, especially just before World Cup 2018 in Russia, is a very important fact.

“This will allow our existing and new customers take full advantage of the numerous offerings, which the company provides within such a huge tournament. For example, all games of group stage are available for bets on today.”

He added: “Marathonbet has the valid license for since 2010, and in general the company has been operating since 1997. Our brand is well-known to sport betting fans and has an excellent reputation, backed by 20 years of experience in this market.

“Therefore online bets gives us great perspectives for further growth, as we have already seen. Hundreds of new customers are registered daily since our launching on

“Marathonbet supports the legislative initiative of Russian Federation deputies to cancel compulsory double verification of betting participants. It is also desirable to have a more precise legal regulation for the issues of concluding agreements on the use of symbols with Russian sport federations and leagues and for payment target deductions revenues from online bets.”

Totally Gaming says: With the World Cup just 52 days away, the timing of this relaunch for Marathonbet couldn’t be better. That being said, although the World Cup will inevitably provide an unrivalled opportunity for operators to grow their audience, it also represents a great challenge, not only because of marketing restrictions in the area, but also due to how competitive the market will be when the tournament kicks off.
