Former Playtech executive Snir appointed to key role

GVC Holdings has appointed Liron Snir as its chief product officer, a new role that the company has created following its acquisition of bwin.party earlier this year.

Snir will assume responsibility for overseeing both product management and the overall user experience at GVC.

He joins the firm having spent more than 16 years working with a number of major companies in the gaming industry, including a six-year spell as vice-president for product and strategy at Playtech. He also spent time as vice-president customer relations at the company.

In his earlier career, Snir spent six years as business intelligence team leader at 888.com, a role in which he led the brand’s platform and database development.

Confirming the appointment in a statement, GVC said the role has been created to support its purchase of bwin.party, a deal that went through in February this year, following months of speculation as to who could become the new owner of the online gaming brand.

Coincidentally, 888, one of Snir’s former companies, was initially considered as the frontrunner to acquire bwin.party before GVC eventually agreed a deal.

Kenny Alexander, chief executive of GVC, said: “Liron's considerable expertise in online gaming, product development, product integration and platform assimilation will be an invaluable asset in ensuring growth follows the successful integration of GVC's and bwin.party's products, brands and operations.

“This appointment reflects our commitment to delivering best of breed products and services to our growing client base. It is testament to the merits of the GVC and bwin.party merger that the enlarged company can attract and retain such talent and we continue to seek further key appointments.”
