Expansion has continued for Catena Media through the acquisition of UK racing portal – GG.co.uk.

The deal, which is worth a total of £2 million, will see Catena take complete control of all GG.co.uk racing related assets.

When asked how beneficial it is for Catena Media to expand its presence in the UK market by taking a step into horse racing, Åsa Hillsten, Head of IR and Corporate Communications at Catena Media, told TotallyGaming.com: “It's in our strategy to constantly evaluate and expand our business to new verticals within the igaming space as well as outside.

“Horseracing has a massive following both in the UK as well as other parts of the world and so far CTM hasn’t been able to offer a dedicated horseracing product to the end user and our business partners. With GG in our product portfolio we will have a solid product to build this new vertical from.”

She added: “We have an interesting plan for GG as the horse racing business in the UK. Due to the competitive nature of the business we won’t be able to say more right now.”

The GG.co.uk portfolio will enrich Catena Media’s continually expanding offering, which now includes the likes of BettingPro.com, BETFREEBETS.UK, CasinoUK.com, NewCasinos.com and football portal Squawka.

Persson Ekdahl, CEO of Catena Media, also commented on the acquisition: “Catena Media has a strong strategy for growth and an outspoken ambition to break into new online services. It is our firm belief that this small yet strategic and very well-known site enjoys vast opportunities for growth. Catena Media will be the partner that delivers on these opportunities.”

Totally Gaming says: In GG.co.uk, Catena has acquired a renowned racing/betting community, as it not only offers daily racing tips, race cards and information, but also exclusive insight to help Catena's first step into the horse racing market.
