Genting brings in Jeremy Taylor to lead interactive expansion

Operator poaches Betsson marketing chief for Malta-based role

Genting Casinos has poached Betsson group marketing director Jeremy Taylor to serve as the managing director of its Malta-based iGaming subsidiary. 

Taylor has been hired as managing director of Genting Interactive to lead an ambitious expansion of its online casino and sports betting operations. This will see the operator look to drive growth in customer numbers and revenue, for the online brands.

The Genting Casino site is currently being overhauled to create a mobile-first offering with an improved user experience, which will first go live in the UK, before being rolled out to customers across Europe.

The company’s affiliate team is set to be migrated to Malta as part of a wider drive to consolidate its interactive team on the island, as the operator looks to ramp up customer acquisition efforts.

“We have seen the incremental value generated through our online casino and sportsbook brands and are now ready to push forward into the next phase of our evolutionary growth,” Getting Casinos UK group managing director Mark Sergeant explained. 

“As retail casino experts, we needed a heavyweight online and mobile gaming executive to lead the interactive business – Jeremy is the ideal man for the job and we’re looking forward to seeing the business grow under his leadership from our new Maltese base.”

Taylor has left Betsson to take up the role, after four years with the operator. He joined in 2014 as managing director of the operator’s Betsafe brand, before becoming its global brand director in 2016, then group marketing director in November last year. Previously he worked for telecommunications giant O2 and now-defunct sports broadcaster Setanta.

“Genting is a huge global entertainment business with solid UK foundations in regulated online casino and sports,” Taylor said of his new employer. “I’m looking forward to consolidating the interactive team in Malta and growing both casino and sports verticals through a combination of product optimisation, improved mobile user experience, the best game content and aggressive integrated marketing campaigns. 

"I’m also excited to be looking at the European regulated market potential for the Genting sports and casino brands,” he added. “It’s a great opportunity for me and a very exciting time for the Genting brand."
