Gamstop to be ‘fully implemented’ by December

Tuesday, June 27, 2017 Posted by James Walker

Gamstop has been announced as the brand name for the UK’s National Online Self-Exclusion Scheme.

The branding was unveiled earlier this month by the Remote Gambling Association (RGA), which agreed to design and implement the scheme to meet the aims of the Gambling Commission’s licence conditions and codes of practice.

It will enable UK consumers to exclude themselves via a single website process from all online gambling operators that are licensed by the regulator.

The website will also set out other measures that are available to help people manage their gambling, and will signpost specialist advice and support services for those who might benefit from it.

According to the RGA, the aim is to have Gamstop fully implemented before the end of December 2017.

“We hope that with Gamstop we have established a strong brand name and image that will resonate in the minds of those people that will need it,” Fiona Palmer, director of social responsibility for the RGA, told

“While much of the current focus is on putting a robust technical solution in place, we have to continue to raise awareness of the National Online Self-Exclusion Scheme across both operator and consumer platforms.

“This is initially being done through the industry media and Gambling Commission communications, but as we get closer to the launch date we will be using social media and engaging with the national press, to help raise the profile of the scheme and let consumers know how to find out more.”

Totally Gaming says: The upcoming launch of Gamstop will make it easier for licensed operators to comply with the Gambling Commission’s codes of practice, while helping consumers manage their gambling from a central, easy-to-use platform.
