Burvall's appointment comes just days after the group reached its 2017 fundraising target.

Gambling.com Group has announced Fredrik Burvall, former Cherry AB Chief Executive, has joined its Board of Directors.

The announcement comes just days after the group detailed the completion of its 2017 fundraising plan, having raised a total of €16 million (£14.1 million) with a month to spare.

The proceeds are intended to be used primarily for acquisitions, with the firm also issuing its first convertible bond in February, and the group has outlined plans for aggressive growth in the new year under Burvall’s guidance.

Burvall joins the group having spent more than eleven years at Cherry as CFO and most recently as CEO. Under his guidance, Cherry became one of the largest Nordic-facing gaming companies and saw its share price rise by over 800%.

Burvall oversaw major acquisitions such as performance marketing company Game Lounge in 2015 and Nordic focused online operator ComeOn in 2016.

Speaking of his appointment, he said: "I’m thrilled to have begun a new chapter of my career with Gambling.com Group, one of the industry’s leading providers of performance based marketing.

“The Group holds the industry industry’s #1 domain name, Gambling.com, and a state of the art publishing platform for affiliate sites, along with a proprietary business intelligence platform which gives the Group great opportunities for growth going forward."

Charles Gillespie, Gambling.com Group CEO, told TotallyGaming.com: "Burvall's connections, particularly in terms of corporate finance, will open up a number of new opportunities for us. His gaming industry experience will also be invaluable in terms of evaluating M&A opportunities."

Totally Gaming says: Fredrik Burvall brings a wealth of experience to the Gambling.com Group table, and gives the group another reason to celebrate after the smashing of its 2017 fundraising target just a few days ago. His background with Cherry AB speaks for itself, and the aggressive growth Gambling.com is aiming for will be far more achievable with Burvall on board.
