GAMING1 have entered the newly regulated online Colombian market, becoming the first international company to obtain a casino and sportsbook licence in the process.

Sylvain Boniver, GAMING1 CEO, told “We are always assessing new opportunities to expand our global reach, and are thrilled to have partnered with an operator as attractive as Vicca Group in becoming the first international provider to obtain a joint online casino and sportsbook licence in Colombia’s regulated market.

“There is huge potential in Latin America as more countries begin to regulate.

“GAMING1 has a wealth of experience in the conversion of land-based operations in newly-regulated territories, and were one of many companies consulted when Colombia’s robust regulatory framework was drafted.

“We are excited to see the market grow not only in Colombia but the rest of South America.”

GAMING1 will now enter a 50-50 joint venture with local operator Vicca Group to launch, which will be available on both mobile and desktop at launch.

An initial wave of titles, that will include roulette, blackjack and slots, is to be contributed by Gaming1, with more providers to be added in the coming weeks.

Rodrigo Afanador, Vicca Group CEO, said: “GAMING1’s suite of products and services has impressed us immensely, and they are the perfect international partner to help us target the regulated online market in Colombia.”

Totally Gaming says:  This is a major step for GAMING1, becoming the first international provider to be granted such a licence in entering Colombia.  With more set to follow this could be an exciting time not just for Colombia but for South America as a whole.
