AS Roma follows Spanish expansions

Aligning your brand with a sports team can be a hugely beneficial way to leverage interest, and perhaps reach out to a host of new markets, as part of a strategic way to grow and expand an organisation.

Football of course stands head and shoulders above most sports on a global basis, particularly in Europe, with gambling firms often keen to work hand in hand with a variety of clubs across different nations.

One such example of this strategy is Betway, who has continued its sponsorship drive across Europe in the last month to agree a number a deals spread across Spain, as well as making headway in Italy.

Moves made by the online bookmaker this summer come on the back of a solid foundation of football based relationships, which saw the company renew it’s deal alongside Premier League side West Ham United in 2016, a year after commencing with an initial deal.

The principal partnership, the biggest in the club’s history, was followed up with moves in Germany and Belgium a year later, alongside Werder Bremen and Anderlecht.

This summer three maneuvers into the Spanish La Liga began with C.D. Leganés, a two-year deal, in conjunction with the club’s ninetieth anniversary, sees Betway become official shirt sponsor.

A similar deal followed alongside Levante U.D, before Deportivo Alaves completed the trio of La Liga sides in the Betway portfolio, with the bookie adorning the clubs shirt for the two-year duration of the agreement.

This latest step has seen the bookie align itself alongside Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma; a three year deal seeing Betway become a premier partner of the side based in the country’s capital.

Set to adorn the club’s training kit up to and including the 2020/21 season, Betway will also have its branding extended to wider advertisements around AS Roma’s facilities.

Lauding the deal Kaitlyn Colligan, AS Roma’s director of global business development and commercial operations, commented: “We’re delighted to announce Betway as a main global partner and look forward to seeing their name on our training kits this season.

“Betway are a young and ambitious brand with global aspirations and we are excited about working together to offer our fans exclusive competitions, access and insight from behind the scenes at Trigoria.”
