Operator now looking to move into German and Spanish markets in 2019

Sweden’s Bethard Group has been awarded an online bookmakers’ licence by the Irish Office of the Revenue Commissioner.

The licence, the operator’s fifth, has been secured ahead of Bethard entering the Irish market in 2019.

”We are moving forward at an exceptional speed, and I think we have managed to demonstrate our sincerity in our ambition to create Europe’s leading betting company” Bethard founder and chief executive Erik Skarp said.

“When I look back at 2018 and what we have managed to achieve in a very short period of time, I am exceptionally proud of the company,” he continued. “In less than one year, we have moved from being a small Swedish niche player, to a force that is to be reckon with in a much larger arena. And this is just the beginning.”

The operator is licensed in the UK and Malta, and in August was approved to enter the Danish market.

Last week it secured a licence in Sweden’s re-regulated iGaming market, which is due to open on January 1, 2019.

The operator will look to follow this by moving into Germany, via a Schleswig-Holstein licence, and Spain, with applications for each underway.
