European Handball Federation deal follows VfB Stuttgart agreement, a brand that falls under the banner of betting operator Stoiximan, has extended its footprint in the German market, whilst praising the benefits of “niche” sports and the huge positive impacts​​ they can have.

In a deal brokered by Sportradar, the European Handball Federation’s (EHF) marketing arm, EHF Marketing GmbH, welcomes as new regional betting partner for the German market.

Set to bring “extensive” media exposure via on-court visibility, with the use of LED advertising and floor stickers, various marketing material and digital campaigns through online and social channels will enhance this further still.

Regarding the deal and the benefits it will bring for, Panos Konstantopoulos, chief marketing officer of Stoiximan &, told “Handball is a very popular sport in Germany, for some second only to football. EHF's champions league is a very professionally organised sports event and will benefit Betano's brand awareness.

“Stadia are sold out and there is space for parallel activities that can enhance our sponsorship. The fact that the final four will be held in Cologne is an added bonus.”

Under the terms of the deal is to also become the official betting partner of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, emanating from Cologne LANXESS arena on 1-2 June 2019.

Konstantopoulos went to discuss the importance of negotiating deals with numerous sports, and not just the giants such as football, and why has gone down this route: “Football is undoubtedly the king. However, sponsoring “niche” sports has proven to be almost equally beneficial for our brand.

“Those sports have an audience that is passionate about the sport whether it is handball or cycling or basketball. These audiences are not used to brands like ours and such sponsorships really may bring us closer to people we wouldn't reach otherwise. In addition, those niche sports help us diversify our brand in terms of content.”
