Beta launch for PokerStars' sportsbook

Amaya Gaming-owned PokerStars has announced that it has started to roll out its new online sports betting service in Beta mode.

The Beta website went live on Tuesday, and the service will be integrated into the new PokerStars 7 client offering and available on mobile platforms in the near future.

In January, Amaya confirmed that PokerStars would launch an online sportsbook in the first quarter of 2015 as part of an ongoing strategy to focus more on expanding its B2C assets.

In the past week, Amaya has confirmed the sale of B2B land-based gaming solutions business Cadillac Jack to casino gaming products manufacturer AGS for C$476m (€346m/$375m) and announced that it would spin off its Diamond Game Enterprises subsidiary.

Amaya has already offloaded the Ongame Network and has now announced an initial public offering (IPO) of its newly-formed subsidiary Innova Gaming Group, which will hold all the shares of software developer Diamond Game.

Amaya – which acquired Pokerstars for $4.9bn in 2014 – said earlier this year that it was looking at ways of raising capital to pay off debts.
