Online and mobile casino games provider Yggdrasil Gaming has followed a successful integration with Gioco Digitale by inviting Italy-focused operators to its Rome exhibition on 25 May.

Having launched in Italy for the first time this week on the GVC Holdings brand, Yggdrasil has chosen a venue in central Rome to showcase Vikings Go Berzerk, described by the company’s CEO Fredrik Elmqvist as a “highly conceptual game”.

Elmqvist told TotallyGaming.com: “We are inviting Italian operators to a venue close to the Piazza della Repubblica in central Rome to showcase Vikings Go Berzerk, a highly conceptual game which will be certified for the Italian market later this year.

“We will also show what we have to offer in terms of our range of in-game promotional tools that will be make a difference in the market when changes in legislation will be implemented.”

With 11 games from its portfolio of HTML5 titles now certified under Italian regulations, which includes popular games such as Dark Joker Rizes, Vikings Go Wild and Nirvana, Elmqvist explained Yggdrasil’s growing Italian focus.

“While we expect our games to perform well on mobile and help grow that segment, it is not our only incentive,” he added. “Italy is the second biggest market in Europe and has been regulated for some time. Given that we already work with many top tier operators who are active in Italy, it made sense for us to expand into the market ourselves rather than leave it to our competition.”

Elmqvist, who also confirmed that Yggdrasil expects to go live with bwin.it in the next couple of weeks, concluded: “By entering the market with new games and an entirely new set of promotional tools, we can vitalise it further and provide top line growth for the entire market.”

Totally Gaming says: Yggdrasil has made the easy decision to expand into the regulated Italian market to help grow the mobile sector in the country. The company has also chosen to back up its market entry via Gioco Digitale by exhibiting one of its biggest games to operators in central Rome.
