Unibet reveals mobile breakthrough

Unibet has revealed that more than half its revenue now comes through mobile gaming, as it announced record takings in the last quarter.
In revealing a trading update for the three months to September 30, the gaming operator said that some 51 per cent of gross winnings came from customers using mobile channels, which was up on the 47 per cent recorded in the same period in 2014.
"All-time high" total gross winnings amounted to £86.1m (€121.9m/$132.4m) for the third quarter, up from £80.4m for Q3 2014. However, Unibet said that this was “significantly affected” by the translation effect of movements in currency exchange rates, and added that underlying organic growth in gross winnings in constant currency was more than 21 per cent.
Sports betting turnover increased by 24 per cent in GBP, which Unibet said equated to organic growth of around 40 per cent in constant currencies.
“Our focus on the mobile strategy over the last five years has enabled us to be and remain at the forefront of industry developments,” said Henrik Tjärnström, chief executive of Unibet.
