Betfred has launched its first app for the Apple Watch

Betfred has prepared for the expected Christmas spike in Apple Watch ownership by releasing its first app for the wearable device.

Some six million Apple Watches are expected to be sold over the festive period, which would double the number of sales since it was released in April 2015.

Betfred’s app, developed by Degree 53, will allow customers to bet on in-play markets and cash out any available bets direct from their Apple Watch. 

Stuart Magowan, Betfred’s mobile portfolio manager, said: “Betfred for Apple Watch is a unique app built for sports betting. We are committed to delivering the best products to our ever expanding portfolio and we work closely with our digital development team at Degree 53, who has delivered a first class product yet again.”

Digital agency Degree53 has developed a number of apps for Betfred, including an innovative messenger platform that was launched earlier this year.

Andrew Daniels, managing director of Degree 53, added: “The Apple Watch is set to be this Christmas' must have present and we've been working closely with Betfred to deliver an app that adds real value to their customers.

“Cash out has been this year's killer feature for bookmakers so it's great to be able combine these two innovations."
