Scandinavia’s biggest DFS provider sees huge potential in the new platform

The Danish National Football Association (DBU) has enlisted fantasy sports developer Swush.com to create a unique manager-game for the country’s football fans.

For the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, Scandinavia’s biggest fantasy sports supplier has created a new game, Road to the World Cup, which is tailored for the Danish national team.

The game, which lasts for the remaining rounds of the qualification process, is aimed at bringing Danish football fans closer to the sport.

“With this game, we want to engage fans even more in the national team,” said Katja Moesgaard, CCO at the Danish FA. “We see it as a fun activity and a good way to create a unique experience for our loyal Danish fans.”

Denmark-based Swush.com has been creating online manager games at Holdet.dk since 2000. Last year the company launched its daily fantasy sports platform, Lynholdet.dk.

According to Peter Holst, head of daily fantasy at Swush, the partnership with DBU marks a big step towards fulfilling the potential of fantasy sports sector.

“Football nowadays is not only being watched in the stands or on the TV – fans crave the engagement that fantasy provides,” Holst told TotallyGaming.com. “We are working constantly to improve the product in order to make it even more fun to play.

“For us, DFS is a social game and not just an empty phrase. We have made many adjustments to the game in order to rule out the sharks. For example, you can enter no more than five teams in our contests, and mostly you can only enter one team.”

Holst added: “I think that this responsible approach is one of the reasons why we can attract big players such as the DBU and the Danish Premier League clubs. They also see the game as being fun and relevant and not as a revenue machine.”

Totally Gaming says: The tie-up between the Danish National Football Association and Swush.com comes at the perfect time. The World Cup presents an excellent opportunity to tap further growth in the DFS sector, and following the launch of its new game in Denmark, Swush.com is currently looking to extend its offering to other European countries.
