Kristian Nylen said a number of new European markets will thrive

Kambi chief executive Kristian Nylen is predicting that mobile betting operators will be on to a winner during Uefa Euro 2016.

The head of the sportsbook provider said punters are much more likely to gamble via a second screen during major sporting events compared to less important competitions. Nylen said around 65 per cent of bets wagered through Kambi’s market-leading sportsbook come from mobile during tournaments such as the European Championships, compared to 45 per cent for smaller events.

Nylen said Kambi is gearing up for its busiest international football tournament to date, having signed and integrated LeoVegas, Mr Green and Rank Group in the last four months.

“Our analysis clearly shows that the trend towards mobile shows no sign of slowing,”  Nylen said. “But what is particularly interesting is that the bigger the match, the more likely customers will reach for their phone to bet while keeping one eye on the action.

“As one of the pioneers of instant betting, we have seen demand for these markets grow in the past 12 months, demand is particularly strong in the mobile channel. We expect this trend to continue and our operators will be empowered to offer these unique and exciting instant betting events during the tournament.”

Kambi also said it is expecting revenues to be generated from across Europe, with many of its partners now operating in markets such as Italy, Germany and Romania.

Nylen added: “It is sure to be an action-packed tournament on the pitch, but also off the pitch at Kambi where we are expecting a busy summer.” says: “Second screen viewing is a phenomenon of our time, and betting operators are sure to benefit from this during the dozens of games taking place over the next month.”
