Valery Bollier said Euro 2016 could transform fantasy football

Euro 2016 could prove to a watershed moment for the daily fantasy sports (DFS) sector in Europe, according to Oulala chief executive Valery Bollier.

The operator is to launch a series of new contests for the summer’s European Championships, having tailored its offering to suit the 24-team national tournament. Oulala said its Euro 2016 games will have the same format as the regular season, but have been redesigned and equipped with a number of extra features. Users will be able to form their fantasy line-ups for every game day, join or create leagues and then compete against their friends or other users to win real money.

Oulala, the official DFS partner of English Premier League champions Leicester City, began offering real-money contests in 2015 after building its social presence across Europe over the previous two years. Now Bollier believes Oulala, and the sector as a whole, is ready for glory.

''We have seen a huge growth of daily fantasy sports in Europe throughout the last season and we firmly believe that this tournament will give it an extra push,'' Bollier said.

The Malta-based DFS operator, which will soon begin working on a £7m (€89m/$10.2m) Series B funding round, plans to further expand its user base as well as developing a B2B network of iGaming partners.

''After the successful launch of a bespoke Leicester City version of the Oulala fantasy football game, we have begun to offer a white label version of our game to iGaming operators aspiring to enter this fast growing new market," Bollier said. "A number of operators have shown interest in our B2B solution and we have gone on to sign various important deals that will come into effect next season.

''Our aim is to continue along this path in order to evolve and become the leading daily fantasy network for football.''

TotallyGaming.com says: “Oulala has built up a major following over the past few years, and remains a pioneer of DFS within European football markets.”
