GSN Games COO hails timing of Plumbee acquisition

GSN Games chief operating officer Steve Brunell has told that now is the perfect time for the social casino game provider to make its move into the UK market after a deal to acquire Plumbee was announced on Monday.

Founded in 2011, London-based social casino studio Plumbee is best known for its successful Mirrorball Slots app, which has been downloaded more than 10 million times on Facebook and via mobile devices.

GSN Games will be the 100-per-cent owner of Plumbee, which was previously backed by Endemol and Idinvest Partners. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the studio has more than 40 employees.

The deal marks the latest phase of expansion for GSN Games, which is based in San Francisco and now also has offices in Boston, Palo Alto and Washington, DC in the US, Bangalore (India) and Zaporozhye (Ukraine) as well as London.

“Over the past two years, GSN Games has expanded globally through the acquisitions of Bash Gaming and Idle Gaming, which have proven to be successful and have accelerated our growth,” Brunell told following news of the deal.

“We always have our eyes out for outstanding teams and products that align with our strategy, culture and growth plans.

“In this case, Plumbee has built a solid team with deep social casino experience and shared values of creativity and innovation, making the company a natural fit with GSN Games.

“The combination of the strength of the Plumbee team, the pool of top game industry talent in the UK and our ambitious growth objectives for 2016 in the competitive social casino space makes now a great time for GSN Games to establish its UK presence with a new London studio.”

Raf Keustermans, CEO of Plumbee, added: “We look forward to adding our art, engineering, product management, analytics and marketing expertise to the existing scale, stability and talent of GSN Games to create industry-leading social casino experiences.”
