Ory Weihs is pleased with the integration of mobile specialist EDM

XLMedia shares were up more than four per cent today after it announced a 103 per cent leap in half-yearly earnings.

The gaming sector digital marketing operator’s chief executive Ory Weihs said that revenues rising by 85 per cent year-on-year to $36.8m (€32.7m) and earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (EBITDA) up to $12.9m in the six months to June 30 came about due to improved technology and strategic acquisitions in the mobile sector.

The company’s operational highlights included extending its existing network through the bolt on acquisition of UK focused, mobile targeted websites and integrating subsidiary ExciteAd Digital Marketing (EDM).

“We are delighted to report another record breaking six months,” said Weihs, who will lead a discussion on affiliate marketing at next month's EiG 2015 event in Berlin. “During the first six months of the year we continued to develop the business and invest in our main technology and mobile capabilities, which further underpin our key revenue and profit drivers.

“We made significant progress with executing our strategic plan, with acquisitions of performance marketing companies as well as bolt on publishing assets.

“These acquisitions complement the group’s existing business and add diversification through the addition of more clients, products, regions and marketing channels.”

EDM, a social and mobile gaming marketing company, was bought by XLMedia in September 2014 for $19m. The company also paid $7.36m for a 54 per cent share in another mobile specialist, Marmar Media, in July 2015.

“EDM is performing well and as such the integration of the business has been accelerated," Weihs said. "We believe that using a unified technological infrastructure throughout the group will enhance performance and bring additional benefits of scale to the group.”

EiG 2015 will take place at Arena Berlin in Germany from October 20-22.
