Mobile driving popularity of streaming services

Winamax latest bookmaker to sign up to Watch&Bet

The Perform Group is seeing the popularity of its streaming service to bookmakers, Watch&Bet, increase as connectivity becomes more widespread. While traditionally people have viewed streams on desktop or laptop devices, it appears more and more fans are prepared to use their mobile devices to watch sports.

Andrew Ashenden, EVP Betting at Perform, told “We’re seeing overall traffic grow as mobile becomes more prevalent.”

Perform has just extended its portfolio of clients for the Watch&Bet live streaming service after agreeing a deal with French-based operator Winamax SAS. Watch&Bet provides a 24/7 service designed to improve the acquisition and retention of players, and to drive increased turnover of in-play betting.

The partnership will provide Winamax with access to over 18,000 live events per year, including La Liga Santander, the EFL Cup, FIBA Basketball and WTA & ATP Tennis. Ashenden said that the broad scope of sports rights allows Perform to cater for a range of audiences.

He explained: “La Liga is obviously a big draw from a football perspective, but it depends on bookie’s user base and territories. It is these factors which will dictate the sports (and players) they are interested in. For example having the full WTA Tour or all FIBA video is clearly massive for tennis and basketball fans.”

He added: “We're delighted that Winamax has chosen to take our live video streams via our Watch&Bet product. With El Clasico taking place on the 3rd December, they are joining at great time. We are confident that the combination of Winamax’s strong brand and our industry-leading consumer product will signal the start of a long and successful partnership.”

Tristan Guiglini, head of betting for Winamax, commented: “We are proud to offer a premium betting experience to our players in broadcasting, with Watch&Bet top events like LaLiga, WTA & ATP World Tour.”

Totally Gaming says: Streaming is such a logical product offer for bookmakers, especially if they want to boost betting on some of the less popular markets. Being able to see the game unfold is one of the best calls to action for punters. The key is making sure the latency is as low as possible – if players are betting on something they are watching on the site, yet are not aware the action is slightly behind the betting markets, they would not think kindly of the operator.
