Irena Busic joins as comms director, Petra Blixt and Claes af Burén appointed as marketing chiefs

LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group has appointed a new communications director, as well as appointing two marketing directors to take over the work of the recently-eliminated chief marketing officer function.

The operator’s new communications director is Irena Busic, who most recently served as head of global PR and communications at digital creative business school Hyper Island. Prior to joining Hyper Island, Busic’s has worked for the start-up hub SUP46, and served as head of communications for pulp and paper manufacturer Stora Enso in China.

In her new role she will handle LeoVegas’ public relations, as well as press and internal communications.

“LeoVegas is in an interesting stage right now,” Busic said of her new employer. “The much-needed upcoming regulation of the gaming market here in Sweden will lead to better transparency and a bigger need for communication. 

“On a personal note I also like the company's focus on tech,” she added.

“The need to tell our story and who we are is becoming increasingly important while we also have a vision to change the perception to the industry,” LeoVegas group chief executive Gustaf Hagman said of Busic’s appointment. “Irena’s broad experience will make her an important asset for the Group.”

Appointed alongside Busic are Petra Blixt and Claes af Burén, who will both serve as marketing directors, taking over the duties relinquished by LeoVegas’ former chief marketing officer Louise Nylén, who was named deputy CEO in July this year. 

Following Nylén’s promotion, the operator decided to eliminate the CEO role. As a result Blixt, previously head of acquisitions for LeoVegas, will take charge of all online marketing activities, as well as handling all marketing in a number of key markets. 

Burén, meanwhile, will assume responsibility for the LeoVegas brand. He is an experienced communications professional, with expertise in brand building, and most recently served as CEO and co-founder of DamnGoodAgency. As well as handling all branding and related creative work, Burén will also oversee marketing in territories where LeoVegas is investing to build its brand. 

“I have a very positive view of our work on strengthening our marketing department and leadership with these two great people,” deputy CEO Nylén said. “With this change we have more clearly defined the responsibilities in marketing and have added brand-building expertise, which gives us even better opportunities for sustainable growth.”
