DraftKings has launched its initial US sports betting proposition, the ‘DraftKings Sportsbook’ app, which brings digital wagering services to the state of New Jersey.

The DFS operator has entered the liberalised US betting market through the Garden State in partnership with casino operator Resorts AC.

Adhering to new NJ DGE sports betting compliance measures, DraftKings has launched an initial test app for select users within the state.

Post-PASPA, New Jersey opened its sports betting market in June. However, state officials delayed the legislation of mobile and digital betting services for a month, in order to process required laws.

The DraftKings Sportsbook product has been developed in partnership with Stockholm-listed betting technology group Kambi Plc, whose CEO Kristian Nylén said: “Yesterday marked the start of an exciting new chapter for Kambi, as we created history with our partner DraftKings by processing the first online wager outside of Nevada following the repeal of PASPA.

“To be the first, and so far, the only sports betting supplier to receive a Transactional Waiver to operate online in New Jersey strengthens our position as the secure and quality choice for operators seeking a sportsbook partner.”

Meanwhile, DraftKings CEO and Co-Founder Jason Robins has expressed his delight at gaining first mover advantage in New Jersey for digital betting services.

His tweet on 1 August read: “Today’s the day! The amazing team at DraftKings worked tirelessly to launch our sportsbook app and be first to market in New Jersey. I'm so proud to work with such an inspiring group of employees, investors and partners.”

Totally Gaming says: DraftKings has delivered on a promise to service the New Jersey market with a modern sports betting proposition through Kambi, accommodating functions such as cash-out and in-play betting which have dominated the European online betting scene.
