SCiQ has been piloted in a handful of US states.

Scientific Games Corporation has rolled out new lottery instant game retail technology that is set to “revolutionise” the sector.

Entitled SCiQ, the intuitive and easy-to-use technology is now live in pilots in Arizona, Ohio, Maine, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas, and scheduled for pilots in Georgia, New York and Pennsylvania.

Jim Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer of Lottery at Scientific Games, told“Scientific Games’ SCiQ solution finally solves the problem of burdensome and costly retail management of instant scratch-off tickets. SCiQ is a revolutionary new way for retailers to more efficiently manage instant scratch tickets by combining secure automated ticket dispensing with advanced bar code technology that enables secure real-time game management.

"Our innovative system generates game sales and tracking information that provide rich insights for retail chains and lotteries to further grow sales and deepen player engagement. We are excited to help our customers enhance their operational efficiencies, strengthen player engagement and help increase the lottery industry’s $47 billion annual contribution that supports good causes across the US.”

The technology is available in a number of major national retailers, including 7-Eleven, the world’s largest convenience retailer.

7-Eleven Senior Category Manager Mark Hagen added: "Scientific Games has created a product that is attractive to customers and simple for operators. The lottery retail environment may never be the same."

Major national retailers, including 7-Eleven®, the world's largest convenience retailer, have agreed to test Scientific Games Corporation's (NASDAQ: SGMS) new SCiQ™ lottery instant game retail technology. The intuitive and easy-to-use SCiQ dispensers are available now in select 7-Eleven stores.

Scientific Games provides games, technology, and services to more than 150 lotteries globally, including nearly every North American lottery.

Totally Gaming says: Scientific Games is one of the most recognisable names in the realm of online gambling and lottery, and the development of this new technology is a real statement of intent. Time will tell if the technology lives up to the hype, but if so, we could see it being rolled out in far more than just eight US states.
