SACHSENLOTTO planning for future with new technology deal

Scientific Games is continuing its association with the German lottery

German regional lottery operator Sächsische LOTTO-GmbH says it is planning for the future after signing new deal with Scientific Games to provide lottery retail technology after a competitive procurement process.

Scientific Games will provide 1,460 advanced, new point-of-sale terminals, software and maintenance services to SACHSENLOTTO retailers throughout the German state of Saxony.

Siegfried Schenek, Managing Director of Sächsische LOTTO-GmbH, thinks that the deal puts them at the cutting edge of lottery operation: "We are convinced that this decision equips SACHSENLOTTO well for the future. It is another major step forward in meeting the requirements of the market to provide state-of-the-art technology for our valued customers and our important retail network in Saxony."

Since it launched in 1990, SACHSENLOTTO has always worked with Scientific Games, so the deal is perhaps not too surprising, and the lottery turned over US$343m in retail sales last year.

Matthias Müller, Managing Director, Germany for Scientific Games, added: "As a technology provider to all 16 of the Germany lotteries, we are honoured that our retail point-of-sale technology was once again selected by SACHSENLOTTO. The Lottery is a valued, long-time customer and we look forward to implementing our next generation of advanced point-of-sale terminals and software throughout their retail network in our mission to provide players in the German state of Saxony with the best lottery experiences in the world."

The deal underlines Scientific Games’ position in providing gaming systems and retail technology to nearly 60 lotteries in more than 25 countries, supporting more than 270,000 retailer outlets globally.

Totally Gaming Says: The lottery market isn’t one prone to make too many seismic changes when it comes to supply contracts, which is why winning a deal is cause for celebration. The other firms that entered into the competitive tender will have done so with realistic expectations of failure.
