Matt Davey wants to push growth through EL associate membership

Gaming operator NYX Gaming is hoping to push lottery growth after becoming an associate member of Europe’s major group within that sector.

The firm, which has offices in Las Vegas, London, Stockholm and Sydney, was admitted by the executive committee of The European Lotteries (EL) at the organisation’s General Assembly in Oslo. The admittance means that NYX has greater exposure to EL’s members, who operate national and regional lotteries in 45 countries, with the company now aiming to push growth in that sector.

“We are extremely proud to have been approved for membership by the executive committee and we look forward to providing a valuable contribution to the association over the coming years,” NYX chief executive Matt Davey said.

“NYX have several existing lottery clients with whom we continue to expand on our product portfolio and partnership together. Having also completed the launch of our new Lottery Gaming System (LGS), NYX further builds on its heritage as a serious player in the lottery market.”

NYX, whose lottery offering includes scratch cards, probability games, keno, progressives and linked jackpots, joins the likes of Intralot and Scientific Games as associate members of EL. The company has more than 45 customers, including Amaya, Coral, Microgaming and Playtech, that use its lottery, bingo, casino platforms with a library of more than 300 games.

NYX recently paid $150m (€133.5m) for Amaya (Alberta) Inc. (formerly Chartwell Technology Inc.) and Cryptologic, as well as Italy-facing firm Game360.

Meanwhile, the EL executive committee that awarded NYX with associate status was a newly-elected one following the election of the board in Oslo for the period 2015-2017. Hansjörg Höltkemeier, of Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin (Germany), was elected by the members as president of the association.

The general assembly also appointed Fernando Paes Afonso, of Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa (Portugal) as first vice-president and Robert Chvátal, of Sazka (Czech Republic), as second vice-president.
