Head of Customer Success at LOT.TO said that the deal "can make all the difference to a business like LOT.TO”

Artificial intelligence-powered translation platform Unbabel has announced a strategic alliance with UK-based iLottery provider LOT.TO to drive new opportunities for both companies in the online gambling sphere.

Lisbon-headquartered Unbabel, which counts Scale Venture Partners, Microsoft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Samsung NEXT among its high-profile investors, sees huge potential in the $279 billion global gambling industry, and particularly the iLottery sector, which is currently growing at around 13% annually.

Rob Lawson, Head of Customer Success at LOT.TO, told TotallyGaming.com: “In the competitive world of online gaming, small details can really influence the bottom line, and translation is one of them. Good quality copy, in any language, can have a notable effect on sign-ups and revenue, which is why a rapid and reliable translation service, such as the one provided by Unbabel, can make all the difference to a business like LOT.TO.”

Edmund Ovington, VP for Global Alliances at Unbabel, added: “With global gaming revenues set to hit $635bn by 2020 and most online operators doing business in multiple languages, we are keen to expand our horizons in the sector. We see the strategic alliance with LOT.TO as a key stepping stone in building a presence in the gambling sector, where iLottery accounts for almost 30% of total revenues.”

With the Chinese online gaming market alone expanding by 50% in 2016-17, the potential for growth is clear, which means that the requirement for rapid, reliable and efficient translation into multiple languages is only going to increase. With LOT.TO expanding rapidly in key global markets, working with many new and established gambling brands, the ability to deliver Unbabel as a ready-made translation solution makes perfect sense.

Totally Gaming says: The online gaming market is expanding rapidly, therefore, forming this partnership with ambitions of bolstering LOT.TO's global footprint in the growing iLottery industry, is a potentially prosperous area of investment for Unbabel.
