€90m prize won with second bet

One lucky Lottoland winner in Germany is in a celebratory mood, after scooping a €90m (£79m) EuroJackpot top prize last week (Friday June 1).

Labelled a “landmark” moment for the online gaming industry by the company’s CEO Nigel Birrell, the pay-out marks the largest for any online gaming company globally.

Christina, a 36-year-old cleaner from Berlin, is the recipient of the life changing sum, and has been dubbed “one of the luckiest Lottoland players on record”.

Allowing her mother to select the numbers which matched and bagged the record breaking win, Christina claimed the jackpot with just her second bet, two weeks after signing up to Lottoland.

Following an €8.60 win on her first bet, the Berliner found out the big news whilst working a late cleaning shift, a job she is now going to quit.

Speaking of a desire to hire a motorhome and travel from the east to west coast of America, Christina commented: “I’ve always wanted to travel and visit new countries and places – the USA has always been at the top of my list and now I can plan a trip from the east to the west coast in a camper van. I can’t wait.”

Regarding the EuroJackpot’s top prize for this week (Friday June 8), Lottoland states that it is to remain at €90m “as no one won the underlying state lotteries around Europe”.

Speaking of the record breaking win, Birrell told “It is wonderful that thanks to this win, Christina can fulfill her lifelong ambition to travel and will also be able to support her mother financially, enabling her to retire. This has changed Christina’s life and we are thrilled to be part of that.”

Totally Gaming says: Lady luck certainly smiled upon the 36-year-old Berliner last week, winning such a mind boggling sum with just her second bet. This could well mark a breakthrough moment for the industry, and especially Lottoland who claim they “look forward to breaking more records in the future”.
