Annexio granted Irish licence ahead of St Patrick’s Day

Annexio is an Isle of Man-based lottery betting operator

Isle of Man-based Annexio could be set to create an Irish multi-millionaire just before St Patrick’s Day, after the lottery betting operator was granted a licence to operate in Ireland.

Players in the Irish republic will be eligible for the US Powerball, with a jackpot which currently stands at £100 million. Last August, a lucky UK-based player scooped £840,000 after betting via the World Lottery Club, the online secondary lottery service run by Annexio.

By obtaining this Irish go-ahead, Annexio has added to its licences in the UK and Isle of Man, while the company expects to announce licences in more countries “as and when they become available.”

Annexio General Counsel Paul Telford said: “As well as opening new markets, licensing gives our business long-term security and clarity around the compliance requirements in other jurisdictions. In a sector that is still to some degree an evolving market, with many jurisdictions yet to implement regulation, it is important to us that we operate at the highest standards and are recognised for doing so.

“Acquiring licences also means we are able to contribute to local economies through tax revenues and promotional activity while growing the bottom line of our business here in the Isle of Man. We anticipate making further announcements regarding other jurisdictions later in the year.”

Totally Gaming says: Acquiring an Irish licence is an important step for Annexio, who previously only held licences for the UK and Isle of Man. The lottery betting operator, which offers EuroMillions, Mega Millions and Powerball via the World Lottery Club, is ready to test the ‘luck of the Irish’ just a few days before St Patrick’s Day.
