We round up gaming’s best social media from the last seven days

The gambling and iGaming industry can be a boisterous bunch at the best of times. There’s no place better to rant and ramble than in the realm of Twitter, where every week a variety of topics tend to attract the attention of those in and around the industry.

A for ‘auction’

There are just three days left to gain a slice of history, as the letter ‘A’ from the iconic Las Vegas Club sign is auctioned on eBay. The famed Downtown gambling den opened in 1930, and pioneered the global trend for neon casino signs the following year.

Las Vegas Club closed its doors for the last time in August 2015, and news of the auction was spread by the nearby Golden Gate Hotel & Casino, which itself is now set for a large-scale renovation and expansion.

13 isn’t lucky

Over in Macau, Bloomberg and other media outlets were quick to note that the Chinese territory’s latest luxury gambling venue, the 13 Hotel, has missed its opening deadline.

Aimed at China’s ultra-rich, the $1.6 billion development is due to feature $1,500-a-night French Baroque suites with marble Roman baths for eight, and 30 custom red Rolls Royces to transport its guests around the former Portuguese enclave.

The opening deadline of July 24 was a condition of the $384 million loan 13 Holdings received from Bank of Communications. According to Bloomberg, co-chairman Stephen Hung, formerly co-head of Asia investment banking at Merrill Lynch, now aims to open before the end of the year.

Too much choice

You could say major betting events are like London buses – you wait an age for one and then two come along at the same time. Many punters will be resonating with Nick Goff’s sentiment in his tweet earlier this week, as the Brit struggles to find time to watch both horse racing at Goodwood and the start of the football season.

Armed and dangerous

The ongoing transfer saga of Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain FC continued to entice social media this week. However, pundits at Paddy Power had their own perception of who the real winners of this window were.

New Fulham manager, Slaviša Jokanović, will be hoping his latest signing, Aboubakar Kamara, can ‘fire’ on all cylinders as their Championship season begins on Saturday afternoon…
