Rounding up gaming's best social media posts from the last seven days

The gambling and iGaming industry can be a boisterous bunch at the best of times. There’s no place better to rant and ramble than in the realm of Twitter, where every week a variety of topics tend to attract the attention of those in and around the industry.

A Goliath victory - 

The 2017 Goliath poker tournament final took place at the UK’s Grosvenor Casino Coventry July 27 to August 6. The fifth edition of the competition welcomed 6,385 entries, up 20% on the Main Event in 2016 and cementing its position as the largest live poker tournament outside of Las Vegas.

Grosvenor Poker tweeted a picture of the fortunate victor, the UK’s Elliott Marais, who scooped the first-place sum of £85,000 and the coveted Goliath 2017 trophy.

Don’t bet on it 

Conservative MP for Chatham and Aylesford, Tracey Crouch called fake news on the Daily Mail story that Chancellor Philip Hammond plans to shelve the government review on fixed odds betting terminals.

The government is under heavy pressure to reduce the maximum stakes of betting machines from £100 to just £2, however, after losing its majority in June, The Conservatives have already been forced to drop numerous money raising policies, leaving government borrowing at a worryingly high level.

It’s finally back, Premier League football returns on friday evening, when Leicester head to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal. Paddy Power predicted this week, that of the newly promoted sides, only Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle will avoid relegation.

ICE 2018 

With 6 months to go until the 2018 version of ICE, entries have been flying in for the #MyParadise ICE social marketing campaign and the excitement has got many exhibitors wondering how to make their stand out. One such exhibitor is Gluck Games, who posed an important question regarding the 2018 event: pigs or no pigs?
