Breaking down all the weeks news into a set of easy to manage figures

€5 billion - The amount that has been raised by the Irish National Lottery for good causes, since its formation 30 years ago. The generosity of the  state-owned lottery was recognised during an extended live broadcast of the Lottery last month, by the Irish Prime minister Leo Varadkar.

£7.8 million - The record fine received by online gambling firm, 888. The action follows the discovery of significant flaws in 888’s social responsibility processes, which aim to protect consumers from gambling-related harm. Specifically the fine related to the company allowing customers that had previously self-excluded to continue playing.

4.33 million - The record breaking amount of visitors to to McCarran International Airport, something that affirms the resurgence of Las Vegas as one of the world’s leading gaming and entertainment destinations.

The amount was a 3.8% on July 2016 and also beat the pre-recession record of 4.3 million that was set in August 2007. Year-to-date passenger figures totalled 28.1 million, compared with 27.4 million in the first seven months of 2016.

July marked the fifth consecutive month that the nation’s eighth-busiest airport logged more than four million passengers, with McCarran now on track to beat the 47.4 million annual figure achieved last year. The annual record of nearly 48 million was set in 2007.

1,200 - The amount of high level delegates at next week’s Betting on Sports conference, which will take place at the Olympia Conference Centre in London from the 12-15 September. Also at the event will be more than 180 speakers.

4 - The number of new instant win games, launched by award winning casino content provider, Realistic Games. Among the games putting a colourful spin on the familiar formula are Sunset Reels and Shore Thing, which allow players to test their luck against bright beach-themed backdrops.
