Number crunching: CSGOLounge, The Times Top 100 & Drone Racing

A breakdown of some of the more fascinating figures to emerge from the igaming industry over the past week.

1,000,000,000 - The amount in US dollars that Narus Advisors and Esports Betting Report’s Will Green state that CSGO Lounge took in skins wagers this year on 2,800 professional matches with 103 million skins in bets placed. This was all prior to the operator adhering to the cease and desist notice from CS:GO developer Valve.

CSGO Lounge, which was the largest skins betting operator, has now relaunched with a new product in that it has dropped the virtual in-game items for virtual coins.

74 - Sky Betting & Gaming made the grade and has been revered as one of the UK’s best and fastest growing independent companies after it placed 74th in the ‘Sunday Times Grant Thornton Top Track 250’.

100,000 - Arena Gaming has launched a £100,000 ‘Silk Series’; a new race exclusively for female jockeys. The prize fund is for a total of nine races with the leading jockey of the series being awarded the ‘The Tufnell Trophy’ in memory of Meriel Tufnell MBE who was Great Britain’s first Female Champion Jockey in 1972.

ARC has partnered with Cancer Research UK with 75p of each ticket sold for any of the races going to the charity. The race days begin on Friday 12 May and the final of the Silk Series will be Thursday 14 September at Doncaster.

2 - Boxing matches that Matchroom Boxing has announced that 32Red will sponsor this month; these are Ricky Burns title fight in Glasgow and Tony Bellew’s first WBC Cruiserweight title defence in Liverpool. Both fights will be aired live on Sky Sports.

Matt Booth, Chief Commercial Officer at 32Red, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Matchroom Boxing and to be sponsoring the next two World Title fights in Glasgow featuring Ricky Burns and Liverpool featuring Tony Bellew. British boxing is at an all-time high and to associate the 32Red brand with these great nights is very exciting for us.”

16,200,000 - Zambia, a country with a population of 16.2 million, is set to announce a new set of regulations for its casino industry which will seek to maximise commercial opportunity whilst protecting those at risk.

The Zambia News And Information Service reported that the primary goal of the proposed National Gambling Board is to ensure that Zambia’s casino industry is operating in line with the best international practices.

1 - Pinnacle has become the first bookmaker to offer odds on drone racing. Drone racing is a new sport, which has surged in popularity in 2016 following an event in Dubai which saw the winner, Luke Bannister a teenager from the UK, walk away with $250,000 in prize money.

Pinnacle is offering odds on October’s Drone Racing World Championships which are taking place in Hawaii and being aired on ESPN and Sky Sports.
