Breaking down all the week's news into a set of easy to manage figures

£100 million - BetStars revealed it was prepared to give away the biggest prize in online sports betting, with the launch of the Stars £100 Million Challenge, which puts just 64 correct selections in the way of winning a life-changing prize of £100 million during this summer’s World Cup.

The free to enter contest is open to adults in the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland, who must correctly select all 64 results (simply as a win, lose or draw prediction) from this summer’s Russian World Cup. If all are correctly selected, the winner will take home the lump-sum £100 million bounty. If more than one person wins, the prize will be shared equally.

€23,9 million - Reporting its “best ever trading quarter” Catena Media detailed a revenue increase of  €23,9 million, something that was heavily aided by a period of increased activity across its platforms. The company also reported +130,000 new depositing customers to industry clients.

157,813 - In tough conditions, the Kentucky Derby was won by three year old, Justify. Ridden by 52-year-old jockey Mike Smith and trained by Bob Baffert, who described him as “being cut from a different cloth” - the 3/1 favourite saw off tough competition to earn victory in front of a staggering 157,813 racing fans.

Speaking after the victory, Baffert stated: “I just feel blasted lucky to have a horse like this. This horse came around, the first time we worked him I thought we had something really special. After his maiden win I thought the timer was wrong, I really didn’t think he ran that fast.

“Winning the Santa Anita Derby, we knew how special he was. I couldn’t believe the weather, I was feeling really bad. We were ready to head out the gate the moment they crossed the wire.

“But he broke clean and I knew that he wasn’t going to lay down. It’s like having LeBron James on your team, you’d better win a championship with him. Good Magic was coming, there’s some really good horses in there, but I knew in the last eighth that he was going to win."

16 - Paddy Power has further grown its sponsorship portfolio, partnering with Conifa to bring the World Cup for nations that aren’t recognised by FIFA. 16 teams will compete for the prize, including the exiled people of Tibet, the Zimbabwean region of Matabeleland, Northern Cyprus and the Isle of Man.

A spokesman for Paddy Power stated: “We love the idea of a tournament which represents the underdog, and sticks one up FIFA.

“English fans have little or no incentive to go to Russia, so we thought we’d give them an alternative right on the doorstep, CONIFA 2018 has no millionaires, no prima donnas, just decent lads who are every bit as patriotic as every other international player.”

2 - Developed by Just For The Win, Microgaming has unveiled two new exclusive games, Amazing Aztecs and Temple of Tut.

Amazing Aztecs, which goes live with Microgaming and Quickfire operators on May 31, is a five-by-three reel, 243-ways game that will transport players back in time to an empire if incredible riches. Inspired by the ancient civilisation that once ruled South America, the slot features vibrant artwork and characters that will guide players on their journey.

Temple of Tut, on the other hand, is a five-by-three reel, 10-payline slot where players can uncover the riches hidden within Tutankhamun’s treasure chamber. Paying both ways and featuring free spins and Super Reels with stacked wilds, this Egyptian themed game takes players on a daring expedition to big wins.

Discussing the new games, Tiger Holmgren, chief product officer at Just For The Win, said: “We are following up our previous successful releases of Goldwyn’s Fairies, Lucky Links and Deco Diamonds with not one, but two thrilling adventures available exclusively to Microgaming.”

David Reynolds, games publisher at Microgaming, added: “Just For The Win has done it again with two new exciting game releases. Players can win both ways in Temple of Tut where they join a team of explorers on an epic expedition for Egyptian treasures. Ancient relics act as symbols in the game, set against the backdrop of King Tut’s treasure chamber where Super Reels can randomly appear to grant epic wins.

“In Amazing Aztecs, players can journey alongside the Chief, the Hunter, the Shaman and the Princess in their search for legendary wealth. The game is brought to life by rich animations and vibrant graphics, combined with a frequently occurring Giant Re-Spin feature to spark thrill in every spin.”
