$2.2bn - The value of the contract signed by Camelot to manage the US State of Illinois lottery, the contract, which means Camelot will take over from Northstar will run for ten years. The move comes after Northstar were dismissed in 2015 for missing sales targets. During a public speech, Camelot CEO Nigel Railton said: “We have an ambitious plan but the plan’s also proven.”

£8 million - The annual amount that the gambling industry gives towards funding treatment for problem gamblers. This week, Labour Deputy Leader, Tom Watson proposed that be increased with the introduction of a new tax on bookmakers. The proposal was relatively well recieved by the industry, The Association of British Bookmakers said it wouldn't oppose an "appropriate levy" to help treat gambling addicts.

72- The age of a pensioner whose life was saved by two Betfred employees, Jamie Scales and Jack Bell after they noticed he hadn't come into the shop to place his regular one pound bet.

The retired chicken factory worker, who is know being looked after in a residential home said: “ “I don't think Jamie and Jack saved my life - I know they did.”

50p - The amount that two horse owners were fined by British Horseracing Authority (BHA) after their horse Green Winter was found to have heightened levels of carbon dioxide in its system prior to a race at Stratford. The fine was seen as a token gesture, and could lead to an alteration of the rules by the BHA.

11- The number of online gaming licenses that have now been issued in Portugal after Lisbon based operator A Nossa Aposta – Jogos e Apostas Online, was issued a license to offer its casino and sportsbook services to Portuguese customers
