Totally Gaming, in partnership with iGaming Business, has launched a comprehensive guide to the Latin American gaming industry in 2017.

The free-to-view Latin American Focus 2017 report (DOWNLOAD HERE) contains interviews with leading authorities on the continent’s lottery, casino, online and land-based gaming sectors.

Taking stock of the latest trends sweeping through Latin America, the publication provides a closer look at the key opportunities and examines the best route forward for gaming regulation in this diverse region.

Discussing why the continent’s land-based casinos must adapt to the online space, Victor Araneda del Canto, director of Latin America for Gaming1, says in Latin American Focus 2017: “Countries in the region are regulating left, right and centre, all eager to increase revenue in a previously untapped market.

“Land-based operators have many competitive advantages in place to compete with the purely online offers, including brand prestige, recognisable locations and the confidence of its player database.”

Offering a regulatory perspective, Luis Gama, president of CIBELAE and the National Lottery of Uruguay, notes that the region has a “very important potential, and the signals that are being given are increasingly positive between both state organisations and private sector organisations”.

“The best model will emerge from serious, responsible and professional work that must be developed together and with the input of each of all the parties involved,” says Gama.

With a surge in mobile adoption rates in the LatAm region, and improved technology in the online lottery space, the time is right for lotteries to offer a stronger mobile offering, according to Lotto Hero CEO Angelo Dalli.

“The online lottery sector, however, has been stuck in its traditional ways for far too long and has been crying out for innovation for years,” Dalli says in the report. “A completely new gaming concept is sure to provide operators and lotteries with portfolio differentiation in what is a fiercely competitive LatAm market.”

Elsewhere in Latin American Focus 2017, Tiburcio Perdomo, commercial director for the National Lottery of the Dominican Republic, discusses how lottery has developed in his homeland and why a region-wide lottery product would offer great opportunities.

“The development and implementation of a project of this magnitude that could involve more than 20 countries and big population numbers,” Perdomo says. “Major operators and suppliers like Novomatic, Intralot and Gtech have been interested in the project and made interesting proposals.”

In addition, Latin American Focus 2017 take a closer look at the opportunities offered by virtual sports in the continent, the challenges of entering the Latin American gaming space and the ongoing importance of social responsibility across all sectors.
