Andrew Porter has been the creative force behind more than 100 gambling games

Ash Gaming Managing Director Andrew Porter will explore evolving slot design trends during a session at The Slot Summit, which will take place next month at the heart of the “incredibly interesting” Eastern European market.

Porter will lead a session entitled ‘The Evolution and Future of Slot Design’ on the second day of the three-day Summit, which will take place from June 9-11 in Bucharest, Romania.

“We will look at how slots have evolved to meet player needs – a journey from the invention of slots, pioneering features that have become core functionality to modern day favourites, trends and predictions for the future,” Porter told TotallyGaming.com.

“It will be about understanding how features, maths, themes, art and sound combine, with a focus on how features and math combine best for different volatility profiles.

“We will also look at different player profiles and what they want from playing slots. How do they differ on different platforms, in different markets and territories?”

Porter has been the lead creative force on more than 100 gambling games, from slots, table and arcade games to virtual sports.

Ash Gaming is a subsidiary company that is the premier content creation unit for Playtech, and Porter’s current focus is on driving Playtech’s cross-channel content vision.

However, he is relishing the opportunity to learn about other parts of the industry at the Summit, with a varied agenda set to keep delegates engaged for the duration of the event at the Hotel Novotel in Bucharest city centre.

“My expertise primarily is online I therefore am excited to see the key themes emerging and I am really looking forward to broadening my knowledge of land-based casino slots,” Porter added.

“Romania and Eastern Europe are incredibly interesting markets for Playtech. Playtech has various interests both online and land-based in Eastern Europe and is always looking for opportunities to grow or expand in these markets.

“The focus for myself this year is to better understand how players operate in land-based and online markets, transitioning between them and how we can facilitate better user experiences and content for players who in the future will gamble in both land based casinos, at home on a computer or on the move on mobile.”

‘The Evolution and Future of Slot Design’, featuring Andrew Porter, will take place from 10.00-10.45 on June 10.
