#spiritofgenius campaign looks to reflect industry's status as early adopter of new technology and driver of change

Clarion Gaming has launched its creative campaign for the 2019 edition of ICE London, which looks to celebrate the genius of the international gaming industry. 

The #spiritofgenius campaign looks to highlight the industry’s role as one of the early adopters and developers of new technology by featuring a diverse range of world-changing inventions. Innovations from abstract art to applied mathematics, and the printing press to the contraceptive pill, are included. 

Clarion aims to use these inventions to reflect the level game-changing genius featured on the show floor at ICE London. 

“We thought it was about time that someone started banging the drum on behalf of an industry that has consistently been among the very first to embrace new technology and is among the most creative sectors anywhere in the world, employing the most talented individuals and the brightest minds,” Clarion Gaming managing director Kate Chambers explained. “With close to 600 exhibitors from 60+ nations using ICE London to unveil their very latest products, ICE London is the very best place to experience the spirit of genius that drives the totality of the gaming experience.”

Chambers said that while ICE London remains the industry’s biggest and most international gaming technology event, Clarion recognised that it must give every delegate a good reason to attend. 

“We achieve this by investing in our marketing and investing in the way in which we engage with our international stakeholders,” she said. “The #spiritofgenius campaign will be the most extensive in the history of the ICE brand, supported by above- and below-the-line spend across a multitude of media channels.”

The 2019 edition of ICE London comes hot on the heels of a wildly successful 2018 event, which saw 33,536 unique visitors attend from 153 nations. This represented an 11% increase on the 2017 show, and the event’s seventh consecutive year of growth.

Despite expanding to fill a second hall at its ExCeL London venue, density increased year-on-year, with the average number of visitors per stand up 17%, and number of visitors per square metre up 12%. 

ICE London 2018 also further confirmed the event’s international character, with a surge in visitors from key gaming growth areas such as North America (up 33%); Africa (up 23%) and South East Asia (up 18%). 

ICE London 2019 takes place at ExCeL London from February 5th to February 7th.
